Unquestionably one of the most luxurious golf resorts in the Middle East, The Montgomerie, Dubai boasts a 7,396 yard championship golf course designed by Ryder Cup star and 8 time European Order of Merit winner, Colin Montgomerie.
The Montgomerie is a spectacular links-land style course which opened in October 2002, and has consistently been ranked as one of the top 2 courses in the Middle East. The course covers 265 acres with 14 man-made lakes, landscaped gardens and 81 large bunkers which altogether have led The Montgomerie, Dubai to become the region's most desirable golfing destination.
On top of the spectacular course The Montgomerie also boasts a magnificent clubhouse, with 21 five-star hotel suites and the Troon Golf Academy. The Academy is a state-of-the-art, fully floodlit practise facility, featuring a 9 hole par 3 course, floddlit driving range, numerous short game areas and practise bunkers. There is also an indoor swing analysis studio.
The course provides the player with undulating fairways with generous landing areas which challenge and intrigue all levels of golfers. The greens can be very misleading, although large in size they are consistently rolling above 9.5 feet. Lots of shape on each green can result in some very trying putts across the massive contours.
Good placement of the drive is the cornerstone of any good round. The flat landing area of each fairway can be challenging to find, but will set up a rewarding approach to the large greens.
Combining the design traditions of truly great Scottish links courses, the design has great character that rewards strategic play, while celebrating the stunning natural beauty. This makes The Montgomerie, Dubai a unique golfing experience in this part of the world.
The Montgomerie's signature hole is the par-3 thirteenth which is not only designed in the shape of the UAE but also lays claim to being the largest single golfing green in the world. At 58,000 sq ft, it is the size of nine normal sized greens combined.
Since The Montgomerie, Dubai's golf course and Academy opened the club has since managed to generate the kind of interest that affords it a client base of over 40,000 local and international golf rounds annually. The Montgomerie, Dubai was voted "Dubai's Leading Golf Resort" in the 2006 World Travel Awards.
